Highlight
  • The four climate-related programs analyzed in this chapter produce significant economic benefits for the state. Altogether, using the cumulative implemented investment amounts ($2.762 billion), the programs generated economic output of $5.351 billion and created 8,521 total jobs. The cumulative CVRP investment over the life of the program resulted in GHG emissions reductions of an estimated 6,702,548 MTCO2e, while the AHSC program reduced emissions by 2,514,667 MTCO2e. Labor income increased by $1.77 billion and added $2.68 billion in economic value. While these four programs represent a small amount of overall climate spending in California, it is clear investments in climate-related programs produce significant economic benefits in addition to GHG emissions reductions.
