GHG emissions per capita in 2022 were 9.5 MMTCO2e per person in California, a decrease of 2.2% (-0.21 MMTCO2e/person) from 2021, while the state’s inflation-adjusted GDP per capita grew by 0.9% over the same time period. Compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, GHG emissions per capita decreased by 7.1% (-0.73 MMTCO2e/person), while the inflation-adjusted GDP per capita was up by 8.0% in 2022. Compared to 1990, GHG emissions per capita were down by 34.9% (-5.1 MMTCO2e/person), while the inflation-adjusted GDP per capita was up by 96.1% in 2022.
