Highlight
  • The commercial sector (43.8%) and the residential sector (53.5%) accounted for the lion’s share of savings in 2022. The industrial sector accounted for the remaining 2.8%. The fact that the industrial and transportation sectors have had little to no electricity savings from energy efficiency underscore the immense difficulty and the urgent needs to electrify these sectors.
Challenge
  • Over time, electricity savings from energy efficiency have fallen in the commercial sector from 2013 (1.65 million MWh) to 2022 (1.29 million MWh). Meanwhile, the opposite is true in the residential sector where it has risen from 1.07 million MWh in 2013 to 1.58 million MWh in 2022.
