  • In California, ZEVs share of all registered vehicles increased faster in 2023 than in 2022, with a few medium-sized Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) experiencing significant growth; Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura (from 3.3% to 4.7%), Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade (from 2.9% to 4.1%), Napa (from 2.6% to 3.5%), Santa Rosa-Petaluma (from 3.4% to 4.6%), Napa (from 3.5% to 4.7%), and Santa Cruz-Watsonville (from 3.7% to 4.8%). Moreover, the non-MSA area rate has surpassed two percent, reaching 2.3% in 2023. Statewide, ZEVs as percentage of total vehicles registered exceeded five percent in 2023 (5.2%), almost doubling its share from 2021 (2.7%).
