GHG emissions per capita in 2023 were 9.25 MMTCO2e per person in California, a decrease of 2.8% (-0.27 MMTCO2e/person) from 2022, while the state’s inflation-adjusted GDP per capita grew by 2.3% over the same time period. Compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, GHG emissions per capita decreased by 9.7% (-0.99 MMTCO2e/person), while the inflation-adjusted GDP per capita was up by 10.4% in 2023. Compared to 1990, GHG emissions per capita were down by 36.6% (-5.35 MMTCO2e/person), while the inflation-adjusted GDP per capita was up by 101.2% in 2023.
