  • The number of ZEVs on-road in California surpassed 1.5 million in 2023. There were 1,516,107 ZEVs on-road in California as of the end of 2023, an increase of 36.5% compared to 2022. In recent years, the number of ZEVs registered are increasing at an increasing rate, which could be partially explained by the California’s first-in-nation ZEV regulation, Advanced Clean Cars II, adopted by CARB.
  • Compared to 2022, vehicle registrations of BEVs (+46.1%), PHEVs (+15.1%), and FCEVs (+17.6%) have all increased in 2023.
