  • Among “new and emerging occupations,” San Jose, San Diego, Oxnard, San Francisco, and Sacramento all specialized in new and emerging occupations that are knowledge-intensive. Los Angeles is not specialized in green jobs across any of the four categories, but the region does have a small specialization in “New and Emerging” service jobs green jobs, including Securities, Commodities, and Financial Services Sales Agents, as well as Cargo and Freight Agents. The level of specialization for new and emerging blue collar jobs is lower across California. However, Santa Rosa has an LQ of 1.21 for such workers, due largely to “Production Workers not classified elsewhere.” Bakersfield’s 1.2 is largely attributable to Solar Voltaic installers who have an LQ of 9.3 in that area. San Luis Obispo’s is helped by “Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Workers, not classified elsewhere.
