  • California was successful in meeting the 2020 goal of having at least 33 percent of electricity generation from RPS-eligible renewable sources. However, the rate of increase in renewable generation has slowed down in recent years, and the state will need to pick up the pace to meet future RPS goals. To meet the 2026 goal, the share of electricity generation from renewables would need to increase by 2.8 percent each year from 2018 to 2026, revised upward from 2.3 percent previously.
