  • In 2021, California had the lowest per capita electricity consumption (6.32 megawatt-hours) among all the large states in the nation, second only to Hawaii (6.17 MWh/person) among all 50 states. Furthermore, California's per capita electricity consumption decreased by 9.2 percent between 2011 and 2021, which is a significantly faster rate of decline than any other state in the country.
